Externships
What is an Externship?*
At Berks Technical Institute, we design our programs to enable each student to succeed in navigating the job market on the road to their new career. With our externships, we see it as an important part of that is the hands-on experience. In the final stage of your education at BTI, you may participate in an externship.* As one of your final courses, you will be placed in a work-like environment where you can put the skills you trained on in the classroom to practical use. This type of learning takes place in a job-like setting as you get to experience the day-to-day responsibilities the same as a person in the job first-hand to build confidence, ask questions and observe.
How Do BTI Externships Work?
If you have chosen a program that has externship opportunities, one of our BTI staff members will help you plan for your placement. Together, you and a BTI team member will discuss your career goals and interests, and they will help match you to the right partner that will help facilitate your continued growth. As you go through your externship, you will submit weekly reports outlining your attendance, activities and learning. You will receive feedback on your performance halfway through and upon completion of your externship. Throughout your externship, our dedicated BTI team will guide and support your professional development.
